On Friday, July 3, 2026, Prof. Maria Wirzberger, spokesperson of the Stuttgart Research Focus Interchange Forum for Reflecting on Intelligent Systems (SRF IRIS), will give an invited talk at the 2026 Intelligent Systems Summer Event of the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems.
Her talk, titled “Interacting with Intelligent Technical Systems through a Human-Centered Lens,” will take place from 14:30 to 15:15 at MPI-IS Stuttgart. Prof. Wirzberger will discuss how intelligent technical systems can be designed to better support human users by accounting for factors such as trust, cognitive workload, user expectations, and team performance.
The annual MPI-IS Summer Event brings together colleagues, alumni, and friends of the institute for a day of scientific exchange, including talks, a poster session, an open house, and the MPI-IS Outstanding Female Doctoral Student Prize Ceremony.
Prof. Wirzberger’s contribution highlights a central concern of IRIS: critically reflecting on intelligent systems and their societal implications across disciplinary boundaries. By integrating perspectives from cognitive psychology, human-computer interaction, artificial intelligence, and education, her work contributes to the responsible, human-centered design of intelligent technologies.
More information about the event and registration is available on the MPI-IS event page.
