“Can an inanimate object be racist?”

These and other questions were addressed in the Zeit Campus article. Professor Dr. Maria Wirzberger, spokesperson for the Interchange Forum for Reflecting on Intelligent Systems (IRIS) and head of the Teaching and Learning with Intelligent Systems (LLiS) department, was interviewed for the article. The short answer to the question is “[...] No, because, simply put, algorithms work like pigeonholes.”
