TRAINME & TRAINME 2

Welcome to the TRAINME & TRAINME 2 websites.

TRAINME and TRAINME 2 are developmental projects within the framework of bilateral professional educational cooperations. They aim to provide target group-specific training and further education to teachers in mechanical engineering and electrical technology at vocational colleges in South Africa.

Since January of 2018, the Department of Vocational Education, focusing on technical didactics (BPT) of the Institute of Educational Sciences (IFE) at the University of Stuttgart, and the Inter-company Training Centre in Eastern Bavaria (ÜBZO), have been developing and testing modularised curricula. This happens in process-accompanying coordination with the South African Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET).

The conceptualisation and implementation of the measure consider education-related insights and favourable structures of training and further education of teachers in vocational colleges in Germany, on the one hand. On the other hand, they include country-specific prerequisites in South Africa.

TRAINME

With the modules conceived in TRAINME, teachers can broaden their scientific, didactic and pedagogical competencies, as well as their technical abilities in the context of the available technical equipment and learning infrastructure of the country.

TRAINME 2

With the modules conceived in TRAINME 2, teachers broaden their action-oriented knowledge with a central focus on Digital Teaching and Learning. The second content focus, on Diversity and Inclusion, concentrates on approaches to language-sensitive teaching. It is also focused on mediating interdisciplinary standard occupational profile positions.
