The Institute of Educational Science (IfE) at the University of Stuttgart consists of four departments: Education, Vocational Education focused on Teaching Technology (BPT), and Vocational, Economical and Technical Education (BWT). This is where all students come together who are aiming for the study goal of a teaching profession (grammar school or vocational teaching profession) or in vocational and technical education. The IfE is significantly involved in the cooperative Professional School of Education (PSE Stuttgart-Ludwigsburg).
